We Are Here for You
When determining which type of hearing aid is best for your needs, there are many styles and features to consider. At Hoglund Family Hearing, we will discuss your needs and your budget to help you find the perfect fit and educate you on all of your options.
SoundLens is the first custom fit, invisible-in-canal hearing aid. It fits comfortably in the second bend of your ear canal and is designed to be removed daily to promote better ear health. These are custom designed for your ear for maximum comfort and invisibility.
CICs sit deep inside the ear canal and are removed with a “removal string” since they are small and sit so far in the canal. These are ideal for those with mild to moderate hearing loss and are popular in part because of their subtlety.
ITCs sit in the lower, outer ear’s bowl and are slightly larger than a CIC hearing aid, offering a longer battery life and more options, depending upon the size of ear. Ideal for mild to moderate hearing losses.
These models fill half of the bowl of the outer ear and provide more options and longer battery life. This offers a smaller hearing aid option for those struggling with dexterity.
Full Shell or In-the-Ear (ITE)
ITEs are the largest custom hearing aids available, filling up the whole bowl on the outer ear. Because of this, users benefit from the largest range of controls and features. Suitable for mild to severe hearing losses.
Behind-the-Ear (BTE) Styles
Mini-BTE with Slim Tubes
Also referred to as an “open fit” hearing aid, this miniature hearing aid pushes sound into the canal through a plastic tube and sits behind the ear. The tube has a soft tip inside the ear canal without blocking it, offering a natural, open feeling. With this setup, air and sound are able to enter naturally around the tip, and amplified sound is pushed through the tip. Ideal for mild to moderate, high-frequency losses and those looking for a low-visibility hearing aid.
RIC Receiver in the Canal
RITE hearing aids provide a speaker inside the ear canal, made to offer an “open” fit for those with mild to severe hearing loss.
BTE with Custom Earmold
These hearing aids fit the widest range of hearing loss and feature a longer design, meant to sit behind the ear. With BTEs you receive more power, control, and options than custom models. You can customize the color and style to determine how this piece will look on you.
Hearing Aid Technology
There are several levels of hearing aids available from entry-level to premium-level, each with their own features. With the basic level hearing aid, you may need to make manual adjustments occasionally depending on your environment, where as the more advanced hearing aids will automatically adjust for you. Advanced hearing aids also have more available features such as:
- Directional microphones
- Noise reduction
- Feedback management
- Wind noise reduction
- Data logging/learning
- Bluetooth interface
- Wireless TV Streamers
- Remote Control
